Wellness Doesn’t Have to Be Another Thing to Get Right
Share
Wellness can sometimes feel like another thing we are supposed to be good at.
Wake up early.
Meditate every morning.
Drink enough water.
Journal.
Exercise.
Eat perfectly.
Spend less time on your phone.
Get eight hours of sleep.
Before you know it, something that is supposed to help us feel better has become another list of things we feel we are failing at.
Recently, I have found myself craving something much simpler.
More grounding. More time outdoors. More moments where I am not trying to achieve anything at all.
For me, wellness is becoming less about creating the perfect routine and more about finding small rituals that help me come back to myself.
Wellness Can Be Small
I think we sometimes imagine self-care needs to involve a whole morning routine, an expensive retreat or hours of free time.
But some of the moments that make me feel most settled are incredibly ordinary.
Standing in the garden with a cup of tea.
Getting my hands in the soil.
Taking Boe for a walk and noticing what is growing along the way.
Rolling out my yoga mat, even if I only have ten minutes.
Lighting a candle or using a favourite scent in the evening.
Writing a few thoughts in a journal.
Sitting outside without feeling like I need to be doing something productive.
None of these things are particularly complicated, but that is exactly why I love them.
They are little ways of saying, this moment matters too.
Getting Back to Nature
The outdoors has become a huge part of how I look after myself.
There is something incredibly grounding about gardening. Plants do not rush because we want them to. Flowers bloom when they are ready. Seeds spend time beneath the soil before we ever see the results of what is happening underneath.
Nature has its own rhythm.
And I think there is something comforting in remembering that we do too.
Some seasons of life are full of energy and growth. Others might ask us to slow down, rest or spend a little more time figuring out what we need.
Just like the garden changes throughout the year, what supports us can change too.
A ritual that feels wonderful now might not be what we need six months from now — and that is completely okay.
There Is No Perfect Way to Do Wellness
You do not need to meditate every day to enjoy meditation.
You do not need to be flexible to practise yoga.
You do not need a huge garden to enjoy growing something.
You do not need to write pages and pages for journalling to be worthwhile.
And you certainly do not need a perfectly curated morning routine.
For me, wellness is becoming much more about curiosity.
What helps me feel calm today?
What gives me energy?
What makes me feel grounded?
What do I need a little more of?
Sometimes the answer might be movement.
Sometimes it might be fresh air.
Sometimes it might simply be an early night and doing absolutely nothing.
Creating Little Rituals
One of the things I love about rituals is that they can turn very ordinary moments into something a little more intentional.
A morning coffee outside can become five quiet minutes before the day begins.
Watering the plants can become an opportunity to slow down and notice what has changed since yesterday.
Lighting a favourite scent in the evening can become a signal that the busy part of the day is finished. If incense is part of your own routine, our Mindfulness Incense Sticks are designed simply to bring fragrance and atmosphere to those slower moments.
A journal beside the bed can become somewhere to leave the thoughts you have been carrying around.
These things do not need to take long.
They just create little pockets of time where we can check back in with ourselves.
This Is What Wellness Means to Me
This gentler approach to wellness is becoming a big part of what I want Winters Bloom to represent.
A place where the garden and wellbeing naturally meet.
Where getting your hands in the dirt can be a form of self-care.
Where candles, home fragrance, journalling, affirmations, crystals, yoga and time outdoors can simply be things to explore — not another set of rules we have to follow. You can browse our Home & Wellbeing collection if you enjoy creating those little rituals at home.
You might love some of them.
Others might not be for you at all.
The important part is finding the little things that make you feel good.
Let Your Rituals Change With You
We move through seasons in our lives just as nature moves through seasons each year.
There will be times when we want to grow, create and fill our days.
There will also be times when we need quiet, rest and simplicity.
Our routines can change with us.
Our gardens change.
Our interests change.
We change.
Wellness does not have to mean becoming a better or more productive version of yourself.
Sometimes it can simply mean spending a little more time getting to know the person you already are.
So perhaps today you do not need another routine to master.
Maybe you just need five minutes outside.
A cup of tea.
A stretch.
A few words written down.
Your hands in the soil.
Whatever gives you a small moment to come back to yourself.
And perhaps that is enough.
If you’re putting together a thoughtful present for someone who enjoys slower moments too, you can also explore our Wellbeing Gifts.
With love,
Winters Bloom
